VIC Men's High Performance Program
Dear MAG HPP athletes and families,
We are heart broken by the news today but trust the government decisions have not been made without comprehensive examination of our State circumstances and with the safety, health and wellbeing of our community at the forefront.
The details of the return to stage 3 restrictions in Victoria can be found here.
While the new restrictions are effective for six weeks as at 11.59pm Wednesday 8 July, with clear responsibilities as a State Sporting Association, our aim is to support the government’s goal of reducing cases of community transmission and ensure we are in no way an enabler. As such, Gymnastics Victoria has made the difficult decision to close the SGC as of 8.30pm tonight.
Therefore, tomorrow there will not be any training at the centre or online for the athletes. The MAG HPP staff will be reviewing the previous online program and working out the most suitable way forward, considering the physical program and the emotional health and wellbeing of the athletes.
Our thoughts are with athletes, coaches and families as we negotiate yet another significant hurdle in our return to gymnastics. If you need to collect anything from the SGC please get in touch with Dion tomorrow as there will be a limited opportunity to access the centre.
We’ll have more information tomorrow evening about the next steps for the MAG HPP program.
